Work highlights
Advising a Seychelles company seeking to recover control over Bitcoin and other digital assets worth in the region of £3 billion in proceedings against sixteen cryptocurrency developers. My team successfully resisted applications by the overseas-based developers to challenge the jurisdiction of the English Courts to hear the claim (Tulip Trading Ltd v Van Der Laan & Ors [2023] EWCA Civ 83).
Advising the US subsidiary of an international IT company in a multi-million dollar claim for breach of contract arising out of a project to design, build and install a system to upgrade the electricity infrastructure of one of the largest cities in South Asia.
Advising a Latin American mining and metallurgy conglomerate in a dispute in relation to an English Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) which had been fraudulently restored to the Register of Companies and used as a vehicle to mount litigation overseas regarding the ownership of shares worth US$1.5 billion.
